The Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero Model 52 was the most produced variant of Japan's legendary WWII fighter, incorporating improvements learned from combat experience against increasingly capable Allied opposition. The Model 52 featured shorter, rounded wingtips with individual exhaust stacks that added thrust, thicker wing skin for higher dive speeds, and improved pilot armor. While no longer able to dominate as the early Zero variants had, the A6M5 remained a dangerous opponent in the hands of experienced pilots.
