The JMSDF DDH Izumo is Japan's largest warship since WWII, a 27,000-ton helicopter destroyer that has been modified to operate F-35B Lightning II stealth fighters. Originally classified as a helicopter destroyer, the Izumo is effectively a light aircraft carrier with a full-length flight deck.
