Tamiya 1/48 He162-a2 Salamander Model Kit

The Heinkel He 162 Salamander "Volksjäger" (People's Fighter) was Germany's emergency jet fighter, designed, built, and flown in under 90 days using non-strategic materials. Its BMW 003 turbojet mounted atop the fuselage and twin-boom tail gave it a distinctive appearance. Armed with two 20mm MG 151 cannons, the He 162 reached 790 km/h but was tricky to fly. Only a handful saw combat before war's end. Tamiya's 1/48 kit features the top-mounted engine and unique twin-tail layout.
