The Wespe ("Wasp") was Germany's standard light self-propelled howitzer, mounting the 10.5cm leFH 18 on the Panzer II chassis. Entering service in 1943, it provided mobile indirect fire support to Panzer and Panzergrenadier divisions, replacing towed artillery that couldn't keep pace with armored operations. Over 680 were built. Italeri's 1/72 fast-build kit captures the open-topped fighting compartment and compact Panzer II hull.
