The Elefant (Ferdinand) was a fearsome heavy tank destroyer mounting the 88mm Pak 43 gun, built on the unsuccessful Porsche Tiger hull. Ninety were deployed at Kursk in July 1943 where they devastated Soviet armor but suffered from lack of secondary armament against infantry. Surviving vehicles were modified with a hull machine gun and redesignated Elefant, serving in Italy and the Eastern Front. Italeri's 1/72 fast-build kit captures this imposing tank destroyer.
