The Junkers Ju 88G-1 in Nachtjagdgeschwader 2 (NJG2) markings was the radar-equipped night fighter variant of Germany's most versatile WWII aircraft. The G-1 featured the FuG 220 Lichtenstein SN-2 radar with its distinctive "antler" antenna array and was armed with twin 20mm MG 151 cannons. NJG2 was a prominent Luftwaffe night fighter unit that defended the Reich against RAF Bomber Command's strategic night bombing campaign. The Ju 88G was considered the best German night fighter, combining good performance with an effective radar operator position. Hasegawa captures the radar-equipped nose and dark night fighter finish.
