The Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu (Dragon Slayer), Allied codename "Nick," was the Imperial Japanese Army's primary twin-engine heavy fighter of WWII. Initially designed as a long-range escort fighter, the Ki-45 found its true calling as a night fighter and anti-bomber interceptor. Armed with a 37mm Ho-203 cannon in the ventral position and 20mm Ho-5 cannons, the Ki-45 was effective against B-29s when flown by experienced pilots.
