Hasegawa 1/350 Aircraft Carrier Ijn Junyo Model Kit

The IJN Junyo was a unique aircraft carrier converted from the ocean liner Kashiwara Maru, entering service in 1942. Despite her merchant ship origins, the Junyo served with distinction throughout the Pacific War, participating in the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, Santa Cruz Islands, and the Philippine Sea. Her relatively high speed of 25.5 knots and capacity for 53 aircraft made her a valuable fleet asset. The Junyo survived the war but was too damaged for further service and was scrapped in 1947. Hasegawa's 1/350 scale captures the converted carrier with her distinctive profile that betrayed her civilian origins.
