The Junkers Ju 87B-2 "Picchiatello" represents the Stuka in Italian Regia Aeronautica service, where it earned its Italian nickname meaning "little diver." Italy received approximately 100 Stukas beginning in 1940, deploying them in the Mediterranean theater, North Africa, and the Balkans. The R-2 designation indicates the extended-range variant with underwing fuel tanks. This 1/48 Italeri kit celebrates a uniquely Italian chapter of the Stuka story with Regia Aeronautica fasces markings and Mediterranean theater camouflage.
