The Fieseler Fi 103 (V-1) was the world's first operational cruise missile, terrorizing London from June 1944 with its distinctive buzzing pulse-jet engine. Over 10,000 V-1s were launched against England, killing nearly 6,200 people. The pulse-jet's characteristic sound earned it the nickname "Buzz Bomb" or "Doodlebug."
