Tamiya 1/48 FM-1 Grumman Wildcat Martlet MK V Model Kit

The FM-1 was the General Motors Eastern Aircraft Division-built Wildcat, a simplified F4F-4 with four (rather than six) .50 caliber guns and a single-stage R-1830-86 engine. British Fleet Air Arm versions were designated Martlet Mk.V. FM-1s operated from escort carriers in the Atlantic, providing air cover for convoys against U-boats and Luftwaffe Condors. The simplified design enabled mass production, with over 1,100 built. Tamiya's 1/48 kit includes both US and British marking options.
