The Renault R35 was France's most numerous tank in 1940, with over 1,600 in service during the Fall of France. This small infantry tank featured cast armor construction and a one-man turret armed with the short 37mm SA18 gun — already obsolete by 1940 standards. Despite brave resistance, the R35's slow speed, weak armament, and one-man turret handicap contributed to the French defeat. Captured R35s were repurposed by Germany for occupation duties. Tamiya's 1/35 kit captures the distinctive cast hull and turret design.
