The Ford GPA (General Purpose Amphibian) was America's amphibious quarter-ton truck, essentially a waterproofed Jeep with a boat-like hull. While the US Army found it too heavy for land use and too small for serious water operations, thousands were sent to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease where the Red Army used them extensively for river crossings. The GPA also inspired the larger, more successful DUKW. Tamiya's 1/35 kit features the distinctive boat hull, propeller, and bilge pump details.
