Hasegawa 1/72 S2fu Tracker Target Tow Plane Model Kit

The Grumman S-2F Tracker in target tow configuration was used for aerial gunnery training, towing banner targets behind the aircraft for fighter and anti-aircraft gunners to practice against. The S-2 Tracker was originally designed as a carrier-based anti-submarine warfare aircraft, combining hunter and killer functions in a single airframe for the first time. Many retired S-2Fs were converted to target tow and utility roles after being replaced by the S-3 Viking in the ASW mission. The target tow variant featured distinctive high-visibility markings. Hasegawa captures this unusual utility conversion of the twin-engine carrier aircraft.
