Italeri 1/35 Midget Submarine Biber Model Kit

The Biber (Beaver) was a one-man midget submarine deployed by the Kriegsmarine from 1944, designed for desperate attacks against Allied shipping in the English Channel and Scheldt estuary. At just 9 meters long, the Biber carried two externally-mounted torpedoes and was powered by a gasoline engine on the surface and an electric motor submerged. Operating conditions were horrific — carbon monoxide poisoning from the gasoline engine killed more crews than enemy action. This 1/35 Italeri kit captures the tiny submarine with its external torpedo load and operator figure.
