The MTM (Motoscafo da Turismo Modificato) "Barchino" was an Italian explosive motorboat — a one-man suicide weapon where the pilot aimed the boat at an enemy ship and ejected at the last moment before the 300 kg warhead detonated on impact. On March 26, 1941, six MTM boats attacked British forces at Souda Bay, Crete, sinking the cruiser HMS York and a tanker. The Decima Flottiglia MAS operators who piloted these craft were among the bravest sailors of any navy. This 1/35 Italeri kit includes the explosive boat and crew figure.
