The BR 50 was Germany's wartime "Kriegslok" (war locomotive) predecessor, a 2-10-0 Decapod freight locomotive introduced in 1939. Over 3,000 were built, making it one of Germany's most numerous locomotive classes. The BR 50 hauled vital war material across the Reich and occupied territories, and survived in service well into the 1970s with both German and foreign railways.
