The F-4EJ Phantom II in 303rd Tactical Fighter Squadron "Dragon" markings features the distinctive dragon tail art that made the 303rd one of the most recognizable JASDF units. Based at Komatsu Air Base, the 303rd Squadron operated the F-4EJ as a frontline air defense fighter. The dragon motif, derived from Japanese mythology, adorned the vertical stabilizer and represented the squadron's fierce fighting spirit. The F-4EJ was Japan's primary interceptor before being supplemented and eventually replaced by the F-15J. Hasegawa captures the iconic dragon artwork and standard JASDF air superiority camouflage.
