This battle set recreates the airborne assault on Sainte-Mère-Église on D-Day — the first town liberated in France, where US 82nd Airborne paratroopers famously landed in and around the town during the early hours of June 6, 1944. Private John Steele's parachute caught on the church steeple, and he hung there feigning death as the battle raged below. The set includes US paratroopers, German defenders, and the iconic town church.
