The Douglas TA-4J Skyhawk is the two-seat trainer variant of Ed Heinemann's brilliant lightweight attack aircraft. The TA-4J served as the U.S. Navy's advanced jet trainer for decades, with its tandem cockpit providing instructor oversight while maintaining the Skyhawk's legendary maneuverability. Many Navy and Marine pilots earned their wings in the TA-4J before moving to fleet aircraft.
