The 1/48 scale Snark Missile by AMT recreates the SM-62 Snark — America's first intercontinental guided missile. Developed by Northrop in the 1950s, the Snark was a jet-powered cruise missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead over 5,500 miles. It was a technological marvel of its era: using celestial navigation to guide itself across oceans at near-supersonic speed. Despite a troubled development history (so many test flights crashed into the Atlantic that the area off Cape Canaveral was jokingly called "Snark-infested waters"), the Snark served briefly with the Strategic Air Command before being replaced by ICBMs. This AMT kit captures the Snark's sleek, swept-wing airframe in 1/48 scale — a fascinating piece of Cold War aerospace history.
