The Mitsubishi A6M2a Model 11 Zero is the land-based variant of the original production Zero, lacking the folding wingtips of the carrier-based Model 21. The Model 11 saw its first combat over China in 1940, where it shocked the world by achieving complete air superiority over all opposing fighters. With its full-span wings providing even better turning performance than later models, the Model 11 represents the Zero at its most pure and lethal.
