The Leopard 2A6 introduced the longer Rheinmetall L55 120mm smoothbore gun, increasing muzzle velocity and armor penetration over the L44 fitted to earlier variants. The A6 also added reinforced mine protection and improved frontal armor wedges on the turret. Currently serving as the main battle tank of Germany, the Netherlands, and other NATO nations, the Leopard 2A6 represents one of the most capable MBTs in the world.
