The 1968 Subaru 360 Deluxe was a late-production example of Japan's beloved "Ladybug" kei car, near the end of its 1958-1971 production run. By 1968, the 360 had received subtle refinements including improved interior trim and revised taillight design, while retaining the rear-mounted 356cc two-stroke twin-cylinder engine. The Deluxe trim offered chrome accents and enhanced interior appointments that elevated the tiny car's premium feel. The 360 was briefly exported to the United States, where Malcolm Bricklin's import venture ended after Consumer Reports deemed it "Not Acceptable." Hasegawa captures the charming rounded body of this motoring icon.
