The Macchi MC.202 Folgore (Thunderbolt) was Italy's best fighter of WWII — a sleek, German DB 601-powered monoplane that could compete with the Spitfire Mk.V and P-40 on equal terms. Italian test pilot Guido Carestiato reportedly described it as handling like a dream. The MC.202's elegant lines, influenced by Mario Castoldi's racing seaplane heritage, make it one of WWII's most beautiful fighters. This 1/72 scale Italeri kit is a natural subject for the Italian manufacturer, capturing the Folgore's graceful proportions.
