The Bell OH-13 Sioux became an icon of the Korean War through its tireless service as a medical evacuation helicopter, immortalized in the TV series M*A*S*H. Its exposed bubble canopy and external stretcher pods could carry two wounded soldiers directly from the battlefield to surgical hospitals, dramatically reducing evacuation time and saving thousands of lives. Based on the Bell 47 civilian design, the OH-13 was the first helicopter certified for civilian use and the first widely used for military medevac.
