The F-35B Lightning II is the short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Joint Strike Fighter, capable of operating from amphibious assault ships and small carriers. Its lift fan and swiveling exhaust nozzle enable vertical landings, while stealth shaping and internal weapons bays provide fifth-generation combat capability.
