The Tiger I is the most famous tank of WWII — its combination of the deadly 88mm KwK 36 gun and 100mm frontal armor made it virtually invulnerable to Allied tanks at normal combat ranges in 1942-43. Only 1,347 were built, yet the Tiger's psychological impact far exceeded its numbers, with Allied soldiers reporting "Tiger-itis" whenever they faced German armor.
