The M109 is the most widely used self-propelled howitzer in Western armies, its 155mm gun providing the backbone of divisional artillery since the 1960s. The A2 and A3 variants featured improved ammunition stowage and fire control, while the German "G" variant incorporated a longer L/39 barrel for extended range. Over 30 nations have operated the M109 family. Italeri's 1/35 kit includes options for multiple variants with the distinctive aluminum hull and rotating turret.
