Tamiya releases 1/72 F-35C Lightning II in Japan at ¥4,400

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Tamiya has released its 1/72 F-35C Lightning II in Japan around Saturday, Aug. 23, at a list price of ¥4,400. The new kit depicts the U.S. Navy’s carrier variant and scales out to about 218 millimeters long with a 182-millimeter wingspan.

In the plastic, surface RAM panels are rendered with subtle raised detail to mirror the jet’s faceted skin. Builders can choose the wings extended for flight or folded for deck stowage, and the landing-gear struts are designed as sturdy, easy-to-handle parts.

Configuration options extend to the canopy—build open or closed—and armament. In the box are two AIM-9X missiles and a seated pilot figure. Decals cover six schemes, including aircraft embarked aboard USS George Washington in 2024.

On timing and distribution, retailer notes say general store availability typically follows a few days after factory shipments. International release details were not listed at publication.
