Hasegawa unveils new-tool 1/24 Toyota Soarer Z20; Nov. 1 release

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Hasegawa will release an all-new 1/24 kit of the Toyota Soarer (Z20) 3.0GT-Limited on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Japan. The company is tooling the late-model ’89 variant from the ground up, not reissuing an older mold.

The move stands out for car modelers because fully new tools from Hasegawa are less frequent than reissues or variants. For builders and retailers, a fresh late-’80s grand-touring coupe—one with ties to drift culture—fills a gap in the catalog and broadens fall lineups beyond repeat runs.

According to the announcement and product listings, the kit reproduces the air-suspension specification and includes optional aero parts, a detailed interior and height-adjustable stance (standard or low-down). Dimensions, window treatment and trim details are specified for display fidelity.

“Completely new mold reproducing the late-model air-suspension spec,” Dengeki Hobby said in its reveal. A separate product page lists a tax-in consumer price of ¥3,630 (base ¥3,300) alongside the Nov. 1 timing.

Hasegawa posted images and specs on its website; it did not issue a separate English-language press release at publication time.

Broader context: manufacturers across the auto category have relied on reissues to keep staples in stock this year. A new-tool Soarer complements that strategy with a headline subject from the bubble-era GT segment.

What’s next: expect Japanese retailers to open preorders ahead of November; U.S. availability typically routes through Hasegawa’s distribution partners. Watch for finalized parts counts, decal sheets and masking options on the product page.

For builders, the headline is straightforward: a clean, modern tool of a late-’80s icon—with adjustable ride height out of the box—ready for period-correct street or show builds.
