Premium Bandai announces HG 1/144 GM Sloep for October 2025

TOKYO — Premium Bandai will release the HG 1/144 RGM-79U GM Sloep in October 2025 as a Hobby Online Shop exclusive. The aquatic-operations variant lists at ¥3,520 and introduces a new equipment suite built specifically for underwater missions, according to the company’s product announcement.

Aquatic mission package

The GM Sloep debuts with an all-new Aqua Pack engineered for submersible maneuvering. The pack repositions along the back from low to high mounting points, while integrated hydrofoils extend and rotate to fine-tune hydrodynamic balance. Premium Bandai’s overview also highlights auxiliary ballast tanks mounted on the legs; the tanks detach to simulate emergency jettisoning when the suit surfaces.

To model reconnaissance work at depth, the kit includes a sensor pod with deployable antennas that can be posed on a lead wire to depict remote scanning. The Sloep carries a newly molded sonar gun designed for detection in low-visibility waters. Standard GM equipment for topside and shoreline skirmishes is retained, including a beam spray gun, so builders can stage both marine and coastal scenes with a single loadout.

HG-grade build with stability in mind

Bandai’s engineering brief puts stability first. The Sloep’s new parts integrate with HG-series joints to keep the suit balanced when the Aqua Pack is raised and the hydrofoils are deployed, and the ballast hardware adds visual weight without complicating assembly. The parts breakdown is tuned for clean color separation, minimizing stickers while preserving panel definition around thrusters, intakes and the foils.

What’s in the box

The release includes color-separated runners, the Aqua Pack with movable hydrofoils, auxiliary ballast tanks, the tethered sensor pod with lead wire, the sonar gun and beam spray gun, multiple hands for equipment poses, and an illustrated instruction sheet. Builders can complete the model without glue or paint; panel lining and a clear coat can be added later for extra depth.

Price and availability

Head and pack close up

Premium Bandai lists the GM Sloep for an October 2025 release in Japan at ¥3,520. As with other Hobby Online Shop items, order windows and delivery timing may vary by region. Bandai typically posts shipment updates on official channels closer to fulfillment.

Why it matters

Aquatic mobile suits are a niche corner of Universal Century lore; modern tooling for a new underwater GM variant gives builders a fresh canvas for seafloor dioramas and naval set pieces. By pairing reconnaissance gear with purpose-built propulsion, the Sloep expands the GM family in a direction rarely covered by contemporary HG releases.
